It's good to savor the moment. It =does= matter that we elected a black. And it does matter that we elected someone who seems to stand for many progressive ideals.
But this same election of a man who does not support the right of gays to marry, also saw anti-gay marriage successes in several states, starting with California's Proposition 8.
So, a good man who happens to be black man is president, but if you are gay, too damn bad about all the family rights that are legally held from you. Separate is still not equal.
